Brisbane Portrait Prize

Brisbane Portrait Prize

When Elizabeth Barden, Australian contemporary figurative artist, asked me if I would sit for her for the Brisbane Portrait Prize I was honoured.  When Elizabeth sent me a picture of her finished portrait I was thrilled!  I think she really caught me.

Portraits are notoriously difficult and I feel Elizabeth captured my character to say nothing of my pearls!! Barden’s work is included in public and private collections worldwide and her career highlights include being represented in the permanent collection of the Australian National Portrait Gallery, Canberra, with the portrait of Indigenous performer Christine Anu – ‘Waiting For Zipporah’. There were over 700 entries into the 2020 Brisbane Portrait Prize and only 71 finalists so brava Elizabeth for this fabulous work!!
